Sauce: Taste The Finest in Brodheadsville Italian Food

In the heart of Brodheadsville, nestled subtly behind a used car dealership, bank, and car-wash, there’s a humble shack cooking up flavors you can smell from the parking lot. Within these four quaint walls, no larger than the Sunoco convenience store just down the street, lies Brodheadsville’s undisputed greatest plate of authentic spaghetti and meatballs. Sauce is serving up some of the finest Italian food in the Poconos with a warm family-owned atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The Sauce Experience

Sauce makes the most out of the limited space they have to provide ample indoor seating for parties big and small, as well as bar-counter seating for those looking for a quick bite. The kitchen is but a window away from the rest of the restaurant so, naturally, the air is savory and inviting with scents of the food to come. Somewhere between the Frank Sinatra playing, the cookbook and cookware decor, and the clamor of hard work in the kitchen, it all starts to feel like Grandma’s kitchen. Bela Vita is a family-owned and operated business, and it shows in their gracious service. The owner and staff often take the time to stop by your table to ask about your meal and ensure its quality. It’s a welcome gesture that exemplifies the passion and care the team puts into their work. For those who enjoy dining al fresco, Sauce offers covered seating on the front patio, perfect for savoring the innovative appetizer menu in the fresh air of the warmer months.

Traditional Italian Food Reimagined

The Sauce’s menu expands well beyond its creative appetizers. From flatbread and frittatas to specialty soups and sandwiches, the menu is stocked with Italian classics and inspired new twists on traditional recipes. Take ‘Mom’s Porchetta Sandwich’ for example! Imagine all the slow-roasted goodness of Italian seasoned Porchetta shredded and laid upon hearty bread smeared with garlic aioli and melted provolone. Broccoli rabe is then draped across the sandwich to introduce a refreshing flavorful layer to each bite. It comes together as a concise and casual take on traditional porchetta, packed with flavor you will not find anywhere else in Monroe county.

I’ve already mentioned the modern wonder that is Sauce’s spaghetti and meatballs: ‘MMM Meatballs’, but it warrants repeating. The dish’s thick and tender meatballs are homemade and smothered in an original delicious tomato sauce that will leave you scraping your plate clean when you inevitably toss in the fork and take the rest to-go. In standard Italian fashion Sauce’s portions are beyond generous, which means you’ll likely find yourself bringing the rest home to enjoy all over again. That goes for all of Sauce’s exceptional specialty entrees. Explore the menu and you surely won’t be disappointed.

Of course, a discussion of Sauce’s menu would not be complete without mentioning the core to its namesake: The sauce! The restaurant offers an extensive list of homemade sauces you can order to-go or sample as a flight with a platter of crispy chicken wings. It’s here that Sauce’s ingenuity really shines in their spread of barbecues, aiolis, garlic sauces, tomato sauces, hot sauces, and dressings.

Our Favorites

It’s truly hard to go wrong with Sauce. It’s clear from the first bite that the people of Sauce care about each of their menu items and strive for excellence with each dish. However, if you’re looking to really experience Sauce’s finest, we recommend starting out with the ‘Trinity Arancini’. These fried risotto balls are stuffed with meat and served with ‘Momma’s Marinara Sauce’. It’s a crunchy and satisfying introduction to what Sauce has to offer. Be warned, however, these arancini are filling and could almost be considered a meal on their own. So share with the table!

The Amici’ is a guaranteed tour of unique flavors at Sauce. Signature meatballs are paired with crunchy eggplant parmesan and drowned in a thick vodka sauce, served upon pasta or polenta. This dish is creamy, savory, crispy, and absolutely irresistible.

Finally, treat yourself to Sauce’s dessert counter where you can find fresh-made baked goods and sweet. The desserts rotate through the year so there’s likely always something new to find, should you somehow have any more room. For us, we find you can never go wrong with a classic cannoli.

In a League of Its Own: Authentic Italian Restaurants in the Poconos

If you’re looking for quality Italian food in Brodheadsville, we cannot recommend Sauce enough! Although their venue is modest, the hearty and wholesome food they’re cooking up certainly is not. Whichever dish you may choose from the Sauce menu, know each one is made with intention and a passion for the art of cuisine. Don’t take my word for it; the flavors speak for themselves.
